Directors are trained to take a methodical approach to financial review, including reading the full accounts, notes and strategy commentary. Statement Navigator complements that process by providing a numerical sense check and highlighting matters that may warrant a closer look. It does not replace reading the reports in their entirety.

Statement Navigator brings common calculations, comparisons, checks and prompts together in one place, so you can quickly identify where you may want to look more closely.

Built from governance experience
Statement Navigator was created by people with years of governance, finance and senior leadership experience.
Directors and committee members are often required to get across financial statements quickly, understand what has changed and determine which matters may warrant a closer look. Statement Navigator was designed as a practical numerical sense check to support that process.
It is deliberately not exhaustive. It brings together common accounting calculations, indicative comparisons and user-entered thresholds to help directors, committee members and senior leaders approach the numbers methodically and ask better questions.
What people ask first
Is this financial, legal or accounting advice?
No. Statement Navigator is a tool designed to complement your review. Statement Navigator runs calculations on the figures you provide, and compares them to benchmarks or thresholds you set, such as covenants. Statement Navigator does not review your statements in full or read the notes to the accounts, and does not replace the judgement of your board, your advisers, or you. Financial statements should always be read in their entirety.
Does Statement Navigator review the notes to the accounts?
No. Statement Navigator works from the three primary statements only, the balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement. This is by design, to give a high-level view in the time available before a meeting. You should always read the full statements and notes yourself, and not use Statement Navigator in isolation.
Do I need to be an accountant to use Statement Navigator?
No. Statement Navigator has been designed to cover off on some of the standard checks directors are trained to look at. Entities can use different accounting treatments, so figures should always be considered in that context, alongside the full statements and any professional advice available to you.
Are my financial statements stored?
No. Figures are processed to generate your report and then discarded. No entity identification is required to use the tool.
What if I only have some of the statements, not all three?
Statement Navigator requires the balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement to provide a rounded view. You can capture or upload them together in one document, separately, or input directly in the Review & Correct page. Previous period views and comparisons are available on paid plans once more than one period is provided.
What do the benchmark comparisons mean?
Comparisons use broad, indicative ranges, or the thresholds you enter yourself, such as covenants. They are not formal industry standards. A result outside a range is a prompt to look closer, not a verdict, and a result inside a range does not confirm financial strength.
